Question 1

Can I use these tokens in production?

Accepted Answer

No. This tool creates unsigned tokens (alg: none) which provide no security guarantees. Production JWTs must be signed with a secret key (HS256) or public/private key pair (RS256).

Question 2

What should I put in the payload?

Accepted Answer

Common claims include 'sub' (subject/user ID), 'name', 'iat' (issued at), 'exp' (expiration), and custom claims for your application. All values should be JSON-serializable.

Question 3

Why would I create unsigned tokens?

Accepted Answer

Unsigned tokens are useful for testing API endpoints, learning about JWT structure, creating mock authentication during development, and prototyping applications.
